In this module we explore how to support children where English is an additional language. We see that first language is an important tool to use when developing English Language Learners and that encouraging the development of the first language is vital to future learner success. We also develop practices that foster effective collaboration between teachers and support staff, establishing an agenda for intervening and supporting meaningful engagement. We look at strategies to create stretch and challenge and understand the terms ‘gifted and/or talented’ and ‘more or exceptionally able’. Finally we explore how digital tools provide an array of possibilities for differentiation and learn to use and justify choices of digital tools for the differentiation of activities in the classroom
